New Developments in our Re-coating Materials

Optimal Re-coating materials are inherently different from Primary Coating. 

The reason is that the requirements for a good recoating material are materially different, and even contradict, the requirements from a good primary coating.


For example, adhesion of a primary coating must be limited, to enable stripping. But a recoating does not have to be re-striped, and therefore, there is no limitation on adhesion. Consequently, MY Polymers designed its newest recoating  LM-136-EA with the highest possible adhesion.
 

Likewise, it is advantageous for a recoating to be as flexible as possible because high flexibility minimizes the buildup of mechanical stress during thermal cycling or under a thermal shock. However, for various reasons, a primary coating can not have a low modulus that corresponds to high flexibility. Therefore, the modulus of the new LM-136-EA recoating was designed to be a few times lower than that of a primary coating.
 

LM-136-EA was designed to be used in all the locations indicated by light blue arrows in the drawing below. (Note: the locations marked by orange arrows are intended for higher index materials such as the LM-145, LM-146, etc).
