Field of Operation
MY Polymers specializes in the development and manufacturing of Low Refractive Index adhesives, coatings, optical encapsulation resins and optical cladding polymers.
We focus on the low refractive index range from 1.32 to 1.49.
We serve various segments of the photonics industry and the bio-photonic industry.
MY Polymers offers two complementary lines of products: UV Cured Resins and Moisture Cured Coatings. The UV cured materials cure fast and allow deep section curing. The moisture cure coatings are designed for thin coatings. They cure slow but adhere better. They are suitable for spin coating from dilute solutions.
In the photonics industry our low RI products improve the efficiency of systems such as optical fiber combiners and couplers, optical fiber connectors, back-lighting, light-guides, fiber lasers and other types of light guide devices.
In the bio-photonics industry our MY-133 and MY-133MC are used by researchers due to its 1.33 refractive index that resembles that of water (1.333). There is a significant current research involving these two products in various bio-sensors, micro-fluidics and microscopy applications.
History
MY Polymers was established in 1993 by Dr. Ehud Shchori as a custom development and consulting company in the area of polymer science and technology. For the last decade the low refractive index adhesives and resins are the focal activity of the company.
Our affiliate company MY Polymers Technologies (2002) acts as an R&D and consulting company. It offers customers a variety of products and consulting in the field of polymer chemistry and technology. It provides custom development for specific requirements. Areas of activity include adhesives, coatings, gels, membranes etc. It involves variety of technologies including UV curing, epoxy, polyurethane and silicone chemistries, surface chemistry, thermosetting and thermoplastics materials and more. It serves the various Israeli industries of chemistry, bio-medicine, electronics, mechanics, optics, printing, art and more. For more details on this activity refer to the Hebrew pages .
Managing Team
The company is headed by Ron Zohar (CEO) and Dr. Ehud Shchori (Chairman of the Board and CTO).
Both Ehud and Ron share many years of experience in developing, manufacturing and marketing specialty chemicals for the electro-optics and electronics industries.
Ron Zohar served in various R&D, sales, marketing, and management positions in companies that combine chemistry & systems (HP-Scitex, and Printar), and machine vision companies (Optrotech and Orbotech).
Most of Ron's experience is related to the marketing, development, and sales of advanced technology equipment and technical chemicals for the global electronics industry.
Ron holds a B.Sc.E.E. in Electrical Engineering , from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
Dr. Ehud Shchori has been involved in many science based projects since the establishment of MY Polymers Ltd. in 1993. Prior to that he was employed at OCT (Optical Chemical Technologies) and as the R&D manager of Gelman Sciences in Rehovot in the development of micro-porous membranes for micro-filtration, for breathable fabric technologies and liquid repelling coatings. Previously he was a senior scientist at Polaroid in the USA and in academic positions in the USA, Canada and Israel.
Dr. Shchori earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry and Organic Chemistry from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and his Ph.D. from the Weizmann Institute of Science in the field of Polymers and Membranes.
